COST
My research has shown that people assume wall art is expensive. Just because a Banksy sells for millions, doesn’t mean mural artists charge a fortune. I charge less than an average painter and decorator – £235 a day (CheckaTrade suggest £325 a day for a painter). If I have to work at heights, then slightly more. I will clearly take a bit longer than someone painting one colour on a wall (although I do that too) – so the time depends on the complexity and number of colours. I charge £75 for the design, which allows for 3 changes, but is non refundable. I charge 45p per mile travel costs for anything over 15 miles from Gloucester. If I have to stay overnight there is a charge of £60 per night.
For restyling, decluttering, and interior design work I charge £35 per hour.
QUALIFICATIONS
I have a Masters in Fine Art, many happy customers, and a CPD Certified Diploma in Painting and Decorating. As an artist, I also have Public Liability Insurance via the Artists Network.
WHO LOVES WALL ART?
- Murals can be an Instagramable feature, creating a talking point and drawing customers to a business. Shops, bars, cafe’s, hotels often invest in murals.
- Interior and exterior murals are great for community engagement, and when I paint for social projects, I enjoy including ideas from local people.
- Feature walls are becoming more an more popular as part of interior design in peoples homes. A bespoke painting can be cheaper than mural wallpaper – and easier to paint over if you have new ideas later.
- Exterior murals can be a cost efficient way to change the style, shape or add greenery to a blank or unsightly building, wall or fence – or bring beauty or intrigue to a garden.
- Health, wellbeing and medical settings use mural artists to create a calm and peaceful environment for healing and recovery.
HOW IT WORKS
Initially I offer a free consultation in person, or online if you are far away. I either take photos myself or use your photos/Google Street View to view the site. If you have thoughts and intentions, I incorporate these into the design and other ideas, which you be pay for in advance. I may suggest painting other walls, and advise on interior design or restyling. Once the design is agreed, I’ll quote you a price, and if you are happy, a contract will be sent to you and dates to start work will be agreed. Payments for the work are in three instalments – before, mid way, and on completion of the work.
